Visiting Turin

The Hotel Genio is the ideal starting point

As soon as you leave the Hotel, just cross Corso Vittorio Emanuele II and you’ll find yourself at the entrance to Via Roma, the most elegant street in the city. In five hundred meters you’ll find the valuable 18th century baroque scenery of Piazza San Carlo, with the equestrian monument of Emanuele Filiberto, first Duke of Savoy.

After another ten minute walk, under the arcades of Via Roma, you’ll reach Piazza Castello, the heart of the city. At the center of the square stands Palazzo Madama, in the background the Royal Palace and the 17th and 18th century buildings: Government Palace, the Royal Armoury, the Teatro Regio, the Guarini church of San Lorenzo, and, on the back, the 15th century Cathedral, with the chapel of the Holy Shroud, the Roman theater and the Palatine Doors, the most famous memory of Roman civilisation.

And then don’t miss the museums: the Egyptian Museum, the Cinema Museum, the Royal Armoury, the Royal Library, the sumptuous apartments of the Royal Palace, the Carignano Palace, the Sabauda Gallery, the Museum of Ancient Art.
